Adhar Srivastava, Co-Founder MyMusicPortfolio.com
Adhar is currently a senior philosophy major at New York University. His interest in philosophy stemmed from his love of everything logical and analytical. His passion for thinking began early in his high school career as he competed in Lincoln-Douglas debate. He quickly became a force to be reckoned with by winning many awards and accolades. His success led to a national ranking that he continues to hold even on the collegiate level.
However, Adhar’s passion for knowledge was not limited to debate and argumentation but also extended to the business field. Adhar believed in the American dream; that someone with hard work and effort could make a life and difference for themselves. Adhar and his family immigrated to the United States in 1993 from Seychelles with the hopes of establishing a good life. In the following years he witnessed the struggles his parents endured so that he and his sister could have a good education and a comfortable life. Adhar’s drive and commitment to projects is always fueled by the memories of seeing his parents constantly struggle against the odds.
As Adhar entered his collegiate years he became more and more interested in his father’s business as well as establishing his own ventures. He has taken finance courses from Harvard University and from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. Yet, Adhar would argue that he has learned more from the first hand experience of working for his dad and on his own undertakings. Adhar sees every business model not as a way to make money but as a way to reduce the unnecessary transaction costs of life. Living should be simple, and so should business.

Adhar has been offered jobs from top investment banks in the NYC area but as soon ashe heard the idea from his best friend Benjamin Siegel, the two founded MyMusicPortfolio.com. Adhar’s personal mottotold him that this was a great project as he believes that you should, “only speak when you can improve the silence.”
Benjamin Siegel, Co-Founder MyMusicPortfolio.com
Ben is currently a senior Communications major at the University of Delaware. While growing up Ben’s parents emphasized the importance of interpersonal communications skills and ingrained in him that you can’t be successful without first putting in hard work. By combining these two lessons Ben took the working world by storm. His employment started at the age of 14 working in the back room at a local Cold Stone Creamery. After just three years he became a manager and handled basically all of the stores’ operations. During his college summers he worked odd jobs to make money while also being employed 5 days a week at his unpaid internship with WNBC’s “Today In New York.”
He came up with the idea for MyMusicPortfolio.com after an interview with up and coming musician Christina Courtin. Christina explained how money is tight for up and coming performers. The days are long, the stress is high and the pay is very low but she explained that if the passion was there, it was meant to be. After hearing her perform, Ben saw her passion, felt her desire for success and knew that one day she would make it big. He came home from work that day and told his father about his encounter with Christina. “I wish there was a way that I could invest money in her and support her music, because I know that she will be successful.” Just as he finished his sentence the idea of a music stock exchange sparked in his head.
His vision was of an alternative stock market, one where people could use their love of music to not only help their favorite bands grow but to also make them an asset. By investing in these artists, the hope is to reduce theie stress and struggle so their music can be heard by as many as possible. Growing up on Long Island and frequenting New York City, Ben realized how many struggling bands there actually were in this area. Shortly after explaining the idea to his best friend Adhar Srivastava, the two founded MyMusicPortfolio.com.
